Save money, time & hassle
Book tickets & cable car early
The Wudang pass includes the shuttle bus; the cable car is extra. Book online in peak season — walk-up queues can top an hour.
Sleep on the mountain for sunrise
For the Golden Summit sunrise, stay up top (South Cliff or near the summit) and set off at 3–4 a.m. — coming from the foot is too late.
Hiking gear
Steps are steep and many — wear grippy shoes and bring a pole. It is several degrees cooler up top, so pack a layer.
Do not mix up the fossil sites
The egg fossils are at Qinglongshan National Geopark in Yunyang district, about 30 km from town — do not confuse it with the Yunxi dinosaur museum; check your navigation.
