  1. Yungu Cable Car
    Start · Entrance
Take the Yungu cable car from Yungu Temple on the back mountain up to Bai'e Ridge, the start of the "up the back, down the front" route. Why this route: going up the back mountain saves effort; the cable car takes about 10 minutes.
  2. Bai'e Ridge
about 2720 m (straight line) from the previous stop · Junction
Shixin Peak is dense with strange pines, and the North Sea area is the back mountain's best scenic spot. Why this route: the core area of the back mountain's pines and rocks.

  4. Beihai Scenic Area

  5. West Sea Grand Canyon
about 1770 m (straight line) from the previous stop · Sight
Descend via Paiyun Pavilion to the bottom of the West Sea Grand Canyon, walk the First and Second Rings, then take the funicular back to Tianhai and climb Bright Summit; closed in winter. Why this route: the West Sea Grand Canyon is not a loop, so you must take the funicular back.
  6. Bright Summit
about 1190 m (straight line) from the previous stop · Sight
Pass below Lotus Peak (closed on rotation since late 2023, alternating with Heavenly Capital Peak, so you can't visit both) and walk to Yuping Tower and the Guest-Greeting Pine. Why this route: the main downhill path on the front mountain; Yuping Tower is where the Guest-Greeting Pine stands.
  7. Yuping Tower (Welcoming Pine)
about 1270 m (straight line) from the previous stop · Sight
  8. Tiandu Peak
about 3200 m (straight line) from the previous stop · Sight
Head south from Yuping Tower to climb Heavenly Capital Peak, the front mountain's most perilous peak, reopened in May 2024 and closed in winter; return the same way to Yuping Tower. Why this route: it alternates with Lotus Peak; the climb takes about 1.5 hours.
  9. Yuping Tower (Welcoming Pine)
about 3200 m (straight line) from the previous stop · Sight
  10. Ciguang Pavilion Cable Car
about 1670 m (straight line) from the previous stop · Entrance
