   Enter the town from South Street and climb Wangyue Pavilion for a panoramic view: gray tiles and white walls, three rivers around it, and time-honored shops lining the main street. About 40 minutes. Why this route: see the full view from the pavilion first, then wander the alleys with a better sense of direction.
3. One-Person Alley

   about 130 m (straight line) from the previous stop · Sight

   Squeeze through One-Person Alley (a lane barely wide enough for one person) and visit the former residence of Yang Zhenning: the physics master lived here as a child, and the old house is furnished as it was then. About 1 hour. Why this route: the narrow alley and the famous person's home are the town's two most storied corners.
4. Ancient Entertainment Workshop

   about 140 m (straight line) from the previous stop · Sight

   Visit the Old Entertainment Workshop for traditional folk performances, then take a rowboat ride on the Xiaonan River from the dock: bridges reflected in the water and waterside homes on both banks make the most relaxing end to the visit. About 50 minutes. Why this route: a boat ride completes the water town experience, and the Xiaonan River is the soul of Sanhe.
