The CCTV Wuxi Film & TV Base — home to Three Kingdoms City and Water Margin City — sits on the shore of Lake Taihu, China's oldest television filming base. Three Kingdoms City opened in 1994 as the set of CCTV's Romance of the Three Kingdoms, recreating classic scenes at King Wu's Palace, the Red Cliff naval camp and the Peach Garden. Water Margin City opened in 1997 and brings Northern Song street life to the screen, with Zishi Street and the Qingming Riverside Street. The two cities adjoin each other, so you can tour both in half a day and catch live equestrian shows such as “Three Heroes vs. Lü Bu.”
