Yuantouzhu, or “Turtle Head Islet,” sits on the northwestern shore of Taihu Lake in Wuxi, named for a peninsula that juts into the lake like a turtle raising its head — the crown of the Taihu scenic area. Guo Moruo's line “The finest spot of Taihu lies, after all, at Yuantouzhu” made it famous across China. The park unites lake-and-mountain scenery, Jiangnan gardens, cliff inscriptions and a Taoist islet, and its spring cherry blossoms rank it among the world's three great blossom-viewing destinations. Allow about 4–5 hours, including the round-trip ferry to the Fairy Islet.
