Shang Lake Guide

Real coordinates · smooth curved route
Shang Lake (Shanghu) spreads at the southern foot of Yushan Mountain, southwest of downtown Changshu, and takes its name from the legend that the ancient strategist Jiang Taigong (Jiang Shang) once fished on its shores. Together with Yushan it forms the 5A-rated Yushan Shanghu resort. Broad water dotted with islets such as Hexiangzhou and Taigong Island, set off by a cypress "water forest", peony gardens and a wetland-education park. A half-day loop of cruise and stroll, with Yushan's "ten li of green hills half inside the city" on the skyline, is the classic way to enjoy this urban lake of Jiangnan.
