Gold leaves last only about two weeks from mid-Nov to early Dec; off-season it is just a village—check leaf status before you go.
Rehai hot spring safety
Rehai springs run above 90°C—never touch the vents. Bring a swimsuit; cheaper public baths exist outside the park too.
Balloon weather
Balloon rides at the volcano park depend heavily on wind and weather—rain or gusts ground them. Go early in peak season.
Getting around
Mountain roads make the Baoshan–Tengchong bus slow; if pressed for time, fly into Tengchong airport and hire a car between sites.
