⚠️ Pitfall Tips
Save money, time & hassle
The Golden Window Is Short
The poplars turn gold roughly from late September to mid-October, but it shifts yearly. Check the latest leaf reports and weather before you book.
Tickets Plus Shuttle Fees
Entry plus shuttle for the poplar forest runs about ¥200–240. The park is huge — wear comfy shoes and carry water and snacks.
Dry, Windy, Sandy
Sunscreen, sunglasses, lip balm and a water bottle are essential. Day-night temperature swings are big — a light down jacket plus a windproof shell works best.
Book Lodgings Way Early
Over National Day, rooms in Ejina vanish and prices double. Book one to two months ahead, or stay in town and share cars to the sights.
Leave the Poplars Alone
Populus euphratica grows painfully slowly and never heals once the bark is broken. Do not climb, snap branches or carve — take only photos.
