Along the shore spread rock formations like the Tianya Rock, Haijiao Rock, Southern Pillar and Sun-Moon Rocks, inscribed by literati through the ages. The names mean "edge of the sky and corner of the sea", making it a must-visit for couples and travelers. Allow 2-3 hours walking the coastal boardwalk or riding the shuttle.

Why this route: The Southern Heaven Pillar and Tianya Rock are the soul of the scenic area; posing beneath the "End of the Earth" boulder is the most ceremonial moment of a Sanya trip.
