Potala Palace Tour Guide

Real coordinates · smooth curved route
The Potala Palace crowns Red Hill in central Lhasa, the world's highest palace-fortress-monastery complex and Tibet's largest ancient architectural ensemble. First built in the 7th century and rebuilt from 1645, it served as the winter palace of the Dalai Lamas. The Red Palace holds the jeweled stupas of past Dalai Lamas; the White Palace housed government and living quarters. The towering white-and-red mass against the sky is Lhasa's most iconic sight; allow 2-3 hours.
