    Look up from the foot of the mountain: Maijishan resembles a giant haystack; wind up the cliff-hugging plank walkway built into the rock face—suspended and thrilling, with red sandstone on one side and a deep valley on the other. About 40 minutes. Why this route: The plank walkway is Maijishan's unique experience; the airborne climb to the grottoes alone sets your heart racing.
